After moving to Vieques in 2006, Wes Allen discovered two worlds on one island; an idyllic beach paradise for the visitor and a land of struggle and uncertainty for the native. With belief that "Knowledge is Power," Wes was troubled by the fact that an outlet for local news did not exist on Vieques.

His background in journalism and online publishing ignited his desire to "do something about it." At the beginning of 2010, Wes Allen published "a simple information platform for Vieques" which he called Vieques Primero.
